Lissim - pain relief in your hands

The Lissim Pain Foundation was established in 2008. Its primary aim is to help alleviate the suffering of people living with pain by teaching people how to help themselves and others using the unique Lissim touch technique developed by Margaret Donaldson in Edinburgh.

Our events programme for spring 2012 will be available soon. Click here for more details. Demand for places on workshops is high, so book promptly or contact us to register your interest.

COMING SOON: monthly drop-in sessions (by donation) in central Edinburgh for all Lissim users - both beginners and more experienced. Sessions will be led by a qualified Lissim teacher. The aim is to provide a way for Lissim users to help each other, share their experience and obtain advice and support at low cost.  Let us know by phone (07790 885969) or e-mail if you are interested in attending.

Lissim is a simple, gentle and effective self-help technique that can enable individuals to break the cycle of persistent pain, helping them to regain and maintain control and thereby enhancing their energy and well-being. See 'What is Lissim?' for more information.

The Foundation provides support to teachers, trainees and users of Lissim, and ensures that a high standard of training and practice are maintained. It also aims to act as a resource base for Foundation members and Lissim trainees, gathering and sharing information for example on relevant research relating to pain and approaches to relieving pain. See Members' pages for more details.

Lissim instruction and treatments are available in several locations in and around Edinburgh, Scotland, or appointments may be made directly by contacting a Lissim teacher. If you have mobility difficulties, it may be possible to arrange a home visit. See 'Find a Lissim teacher' for contact details and information on our modest charges.

We also offer intensive training courses for people wishing to become Lissim teachers, and introductory workshops suitable for those interested in learning the technique for use on themselves or friends and family, or for therapists who are interested in gaining an insight into the technique. See 'Workshops and training' for further information, or join our mailing list to be kept informed.

Experienced Lissim teachers are also available to give introductory talks or conference presentations, or group sessions for staff in your workplace or organization. Group sessions in the workplace are especially well suited to the context of 'healthy working life' programmes, whether in public or private sector organizations. Contact us for more information.

The Lissim Pain Foundation welcomes approaches from organizations or individuals interesting in helping us to research Lissim and develop it further. Please contact us!
